PTSD

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. This can include situations such as acts of violence (sexual assault, physical assault), accidents, natural disasters and combat.

Individuals with PTSD may experience a range of symptoms, including intrusive memories, flashbacks, nightmares, heightened emotional reactions, and avoidance of reminders of the trauma. The impact of PTSD extends beyond the immediate aqermath of the traumatic event, affecting an individual's daily life, relationships, and overall well-being. At Changes we understand the profound challenges that individuals with PTSD face and offer specialised evidence-based treatment programs to combat the debilitating effects of PTSD.

Complex PTSD

Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) is a mental health condition that arises from prolonged exposure to traumatic events, oqen involving interpersonal abuse, neglect, or captivity. Unlike traditional PTSD, C-PTSD is characterized by a range of symptoms that go beyond the typical trauma response, including difficulties in forming relationships, a distorted self-image, and challenges regulating emotions. Individuals with C-PTSD may experience persistent feelings of helplessness and a disrupted sense of identity, impacting their daily functioning and overall well-being.

Anxiety

Addictions are a complex and often debilitating condition that involves compulsive engagement in a substance or behaviour despite adverse consequences. Whether it's substance abuse, such as drugs or alcohol, or behavioural addictions like gambling, gaming, sex or food, the impact on individuals can be profound.

Addictions can affect various aspects of life, including physical health, relationships, and overall well-being. Rooted in trauma, addiction is frequently linked to attempts to cope with past or ongoing emotional pain. Traumatic experiences can contribute to the development of addictive behaviours as individuals seek relief from distress through substances or activities.

At Changes, we recognise the intricate connection between addiction and trauma, offering comprehensive and compassionate support to help individuals break the cycle, address underlying trauma, and embark on a journey towards lasting recovery.

Addictions

Complex anxiety, often referred to as chronic or generalised anxiety, is a persistent and pervasive mental health condition characterised by excessive worry, fear, and nervousness that extends beyond specific situations or triggers. Unlike situational anxiety, which arises in response to identifiable stressors, complex anxiety is more enduring and may not always have a clear cause.Individuals with complex anxiety often experience a range of physical and emotional symptoms, such as restlessness, muscle tension, difficulty concentrating, and sleep disturbances. Anxiety symptoms can interfere with daily functioning, relationships, and overall well-being.

Life and Relationships

Depression is a mental health disorder characterised by persistent feelings of sadness, emptiness, hopelessness, and a lack of interest or pleasure in daily activities. It goes beyond occasional mood fluctuations and can impact various aspects of life, including thoughts, emotions, and physical well-being. Common symptoms include changes in sleep paTerns, appetite, and energy levels, as well as difficulty concentrating and a diminished interest in activities once enjoyed.

Depression

Trauma has a profound impact on both life experiences and relationships, leaving lasting imprints that extend far beyond the traumatic event itself. Individuals who have experienced trauma may find it challenging to navigate daily life, as the effects can manifest in many ways, such as heightened anxiety, difficulty trusting others, or recurrent feelings of vulnerability. Relationships, too, bear the weight of trauma, often marked by challenges in communication, emotional intimacy, and establishing trust. The aftermath of trauma can influence one's ability to form and maintain connections, leading to a range of relational patterns that may hinder personal growth and well-being. At Changes, we understand the intricate ways in which trauma shapes lives and relationships, offering support and therapeutic interventions to help individuals heal, rebuild connections, and forge a path toward healthier and more fulfilling experiences
